October Parent Newsletter

Kid’s Ministry Parents

Happy October! Welcome to the season of crisp air, changing leaves, and full schedules – fall is officially here! I hope that your family is enjoying this beautiful season as we dive into another fun month of Kid’s Ministry!

Not only do we have Nursery and Sunday School on Sunday mornings, but we have Community Nights on Wednesdays where littles can hang out in the Nursery, and our K-5th graders get to have fun and lessons in the Kidz Zone. That’s not all, October also means the return of our Annual Fall Festival! What a fun, jam-packed month!

As the weather continues to cool down and fall routines set in, I am so grateful to partner with you in nurturing your children’s faith this season. As you know, we have a great group of volunteers (some of whom are you, the parents) who help make all of this possible!

I hope that these spaces in Kid’s Ministry are a blessing to you and your family. If there is ever any way that I can walk alongside you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s some information for the upcoming month!

Reminders & Logistics

Additional information for Sunday School pick-up: At the end of the service, please head to The Zone to pick up your children from their small group classrooms. Classrooms are in a new location this year, so please look for the signs on the doors along the right side of the hallway. I will also be available for the first few weeks to help guide you to the right spot!

Drop-off & Check-in: Please make sure to check in your children before the service begins.

Nursery Age: Drop-off begins at 9:50 AM. To allow our volunteers time to connect with one another in the lobby and settle into their classrooms, we ask that you do not drop off children before 9:50 AM. Please note that children may only be dropped off once an adult volunteer is present in the room.

Sunday School Age (K–5th Grade): Elementary children will join you in the main service starting at 10:00 AM. Partway through the service, kids and volunteers will be dismissed to “The Zone.” Volunteers will walk with the children to ensure everyone arrives safely in their correct classrooms.

Pick-up for Nursery & Sunday School: Please make sure to have your sticker with the code for pick-up! If you are picking up from both the zone and nursery or even two different rooms in the same area, just let the volunteer know that you still need the code after you show it to them.

What We’re Learning This Month

We begin a new unit as Jesus grows up into an adult and begins His ministry.

Unit 2O: Jesus’ Ministry Began

  • Description: John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus’ ministry. God confirmed Jesus’ Sonship when He was baptized by John. Fully God, yet also fully human, Jesus was tempted by Satan, but He did not sin.  As His ministry continued, Jesus invited others to follow Him as the only way to the Father.
  • Big Picture Question: Is Jesus God or a human? Jesus is fully God and fully human.
  • Key Passage: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.  We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
  • Lessons at a Glance:
    • October 11: John’s Ministry Began (Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3; John 1)
    • October 18: John Baptized Jesus (Matthew 3: Mark 1; Luke 3; John 1)
    • October 25: Jesus Was Tempted (Matthew 4; Mark 1; Luke 4)
    • November 1: Jesus’ First Followers (John 1)

Sunday School Talking Points

Just a reminder, we are starting something new this year: Sunday School Talking Points! Each week, kids will take home their activity/coloring page and any crafts or activities they’ve made.

This year, we will have weekly “talking points” for you to talk with your kids about the lesson they learn in Sunday School. They will always be available in this newsletter and at a kiosk as you leave the Zone after picking up your kids from Sunday School. A helpful tip is to download the PDF now, and then it will be in your files to go back to each week.

Click here or click the image to view October’s “Talking Points”. I hope that this will be a helpful tool for you and your family.

Volunteer Spotlight

At Corinth, we know that the heart of our Kid’s Ministry doesn’t beat because of the staff or any one person —it beats because of volunteers. Each month, we want to celebrate one of our amazing team members, share their story, and say a big “thank you” for the unique ways they serve our church family.

Read more below about this month’s Volunteer Spotlight:

If you and your family have been impacted by one of our volunteers and you would like to nominate them for next month’s volunteer spotlight, please send me an email with their name and share a little bit of why they stood out to you!
