This week is the week that Christians traditionally reflect on the last week of Jesus. It’s a time to be excited, like on Palm Sunday when Jesus parades into town and people shout hallelujahs at him. And it’s also a time to mourn, like when the people shout out that they don’t even know him, and they want him to die. We ponder and reflect on Pilate’s conversation with Jesus about kingdoms and truth. When we think about the last meal he had with the disciples, the betrayal and denial that Jesus endured, and sweating blood in prayer. We wonder if he might find a way out. But in the end, we celebrate that he was obedient all the way to the end and rose from the dead.
It’s also a week when families will gather and eat meals and pass out easter baskets filled with candy and toys.
It can be a lonely time. It can be a joyful time. It can be a sad time. It can be an exciting time.
We hope you will enjoy it. If it is a hard season for you, reach out to someone and ask for coffee or food, or a little bit of time together. Maybe you will invite someone to church. Easter Sunday is always a big day for church attendance. Maybe you will be coming but you never or rarely attend.
All are welcome, so please feel free to invite a friend or join us if you would like.
We want to be a community that is learning what it means to celebrate the fact that Jesus is alive! But we also want to talk about what that means.
If Easter is true, does it really change everything? We want that empty grave to be the center of our very existence.
Let’s lean into that question this week. Think about how the empty grave changes your life. Is there anything you need to change if the grave is empty? Is there anything you might look forward to more or less? Is there anything that you can let go of because Jesus is holding onto you?
Hope to see you on Sunday, because He is alive.
